Celebrating Elvis Week
Every year in Memphis, a whole week is set aside to celebrate the life of Elvis with more energy than local inhabitants and visitors put into it the rest of the year. Whilst many will make their homage to the star at the rock and roll Mecca, it’s impossible for some fans to get there, but that doesn’t stop the party carrying on around the world.

A week of celebrating Elvis may take some planning but there are certain outlets and their customers Elvis Glassesthat would welcome the events with open arms. If you know that you are going to get the kind of response that you would need to support a week-long epic event, it would be worth doing and be really enjoyable and different. But even if you want to get into the swing of things with one strategically placed Elvis Week event, there are some great ideas for rocking nights.

Official Elvis Week Events
There are a number of official events to get involved with including a candle light vigil that is broadcast on Elvis Radio. A number of photographs and galleries will be published on the event website and the Elvis Insiders Conference will be broadcast live allowing people around the world to listen to stories and memories from those that knew The King.

Everyone’s Elvis
This is a great idea for a theme night. Everyone has to dress as Elvis to get into the venue. This can be in any form that they want; young Elvis, old Elvis; military Elvis – you get the picture. Enter a myriad of gold spandex jumpsuits, gold shades and sideburns. Award a prize for best and worst, offer some food and Elvis tunes and watch them go!

Elvis Music Night
This is an easy concept to get right and will work on a number of levels. You could play tunes from a CD or jukebox for an evening, have a band playing Elvis covers, hire an impressionist to do a show or, possibly the most fun and likely to have everyone taking part, hold an Elvis-songs-only Karaoke.

Elvis Food Night
It’s well-documented that the great man liked his food and there are various explanations as to why he liked the food he did. Needless to say all-American barbeque or ‘grill’ food, burgers, steaks and grilled cheese dishes, will go down well served in a traditional diner style, and why not create a speciality drink or cocktail for the evening?

Elvis Hip Off
Last but not least, a slightly off the pelvis idea for a themed night is the ‘Hip Off’. To set this up, all you will need is some form of music or another (see above) and a list of willing contestants. Each performs to a track doing their best Elvis impression and the winner is awarded with a great prize. You could also hold a Hip Off Marathon where the last Elvis standing is the winner.

Put all of these together and you have a whole week’s entertainment, or pick and mix the ideas that you like and some of your own to put on one great show. All combined they should show your customers that Elvis has definitely not left your building!
