Spice up your outlet and offer your own hot summer curry night. Join in the celebrations on Sunday 15th August. This is a national holiday which commemorates India’s independence from British rule.
The celebrations include the Prime Minister hoisting the national tri coloured flag and giving a speech at the historic Red Fort in Delhi. Hoist your own flags and decorate your outlet orange, white and green to join in the fun. Host your own curry night. This is a really popular event whether held regularly in your outlet or not, you can add some special touches for Independence Day.
There are many ways of hosting your night. You could offer a simple three course set price menu with poppadoms, curry and dessert. Alternatively, you could offer an all you can eat buffet style meal. Other special offers could include curry and a pint deal, or curry and a free dessert.
For the more adventurous you may want to offer some different speciality dishes from various regions in India, providing information about the food and flavours typical of that area. As with all curry menus it is a good idea to offer a mix of strengths from mild to hot and have some type of indicator on the menu as to what strength the customer can expect. Why not add some India trivia and facts about one of our nation’s favourites dishes as a special touch for Independence Day?
If your outlet is not food led you may want to host a pub quiz and find a budding chef or regular to cook up some Indian snacks of meat or vegetarian bhajis and samosas. If it is food led but you don’t want to host a curry night, you could just add a curry dish to your specials menu.
Think about offering Indian beers, Cobra and Kingfisher are probably the most popular but other beers to consider include India Pale Ale, Bangla Beer. Lal Toolan and Benglal Tiger.
Visit our Promote Your Outlet area of the site to design and download our curry night poster. Advertise early and make your regulars aware of your event. With the date falling on a Sunday it would be a good idea to start the event early evening or offer a spicy alternative to the traditional Sunday lunch.
